Yankees Provide Positive Trent Grisham Injury Update
Outfielder Trent Grisham was removed from the Yankees’ Monday night game against the Toronto Blue Jays in the fifth inning, complaining about hamstring soreness.
He was absent from the starting lineup on Tuesday, but underwent a pregame workout to test the severity of the injury. MLB.com’s Bryan Hoch wrote on X that Grisham is hopeful he will avoid a trip to the injured list.
Grisham has been a vital piece of the Yankees’ defense and lineup this season, but his bat went semi-cold in June. In 72 games, he has a .246/.348/.467 slash line with 15 home runs.
“He’s been a great player for us,” manager Aaron Boone said. “Hoping it’s not something that’s too long. Whether it’s a day-to-day scenario, whether it’s an IL, I’m not sure yet. But obviously he’s been an outstanding, valuable two-way player for us all year.”

News of Grisham’s injury came on the same day that the Yankees placed relief pitcher Fernando Cruz on the injured list with a high-grade oblique strain.
“Obviously, that’ll be some time,” Boone said after Monday’s 5-4 loss. Boone told reporters that Cruz suffered the injury while using a medicine ball during his pregame routine.
Cruz, a Puerto Rico native, is averaging 14.7 strikeouts per nine innings and has a 3.00 ERA in 33 innings in 2025—a significant loss for New York’s bullpen.
