It's a toss-up in late September whether you can watch a game at Yankee Stadium in 70-degree weather or cold with raindrops. But, attending the final regular season home game of the year has perks.
Since 2021, my girlfriend, family, and I have bought tickets to the Yankees’ last home game of the regular season, sometimes the year's final match. What the average fan does not know is that the Yankees hand out fan appreciation vouchers, valid for two tickets to select games during the following year.
Every fan receives a voucher, so don't worry, even if you arrive late at the game. Each voucher has a unique code you can input into a bar code on TicketMaster. From there, the website will show you which games and seats are available for the promotion.
Unfortunately, there are usually only six to eight weekday game options in April and May to choose from. The Yankees have no problem filling out the stadium during the summer, but the cold conditions earlier in the season make it a bit more complicated.
Attending the final regular-season home games has proven to have random benefits. Walking through the concourse in 2022, my Mom found another voucher on the ground, and I found one sitting on the table when I went to pick up napkins. Between the four of us, we left the game with six vouchers, or, in other terms, 12 complimentary tickets for 2023!
The games have also been exciting. In 2021, we watched Aaron Judge hit his first career walk-off, a single off the glove of Tampa Bay Rays reliever Andrew Kittredge, to clinch a post-season spot for the Yankees.
In 2024, Alex Verdugo hit a clutch two-run single in the bottom of the eighth inning of a 4-4 game against the Pittsburgh Pirates to help lead the Yankees to a 6-4 win. The Yankees had already won the AL East Division several days before, but watching a good ball game is always fun.
More to come!
Love our tradition of attending the last regular home game of the season. 🥰⚾️
